Dancing Water

These photographs were made during my short business stay in Japan. It was late evening when I arrived at the Kyoto train station. I was very tired and couldn't wait to get to my hotel. But then I came across a beautiful scene that completely caught my eyes (and ears). The huge fountain, illuminated by reflectors, danced in harmony with music. I was fascinated by the movement of water droplets from the fountain. I wanted to catch that movement isolated from the surrounding. It was like light paintings on water. Light was reflected from the droplets giving them a shape. They become the live dancers.
